A Sneak Peek at My Travel List: From Home to the World
Since I was a kid, I’ve loved the idea of traveling. I dreamed of exploring the world through television, the internet, or magazines. I imagined checking off destinations on a big map until I had seen them all and put them on a photo album. Though it may seem like a big dream, I hold onto it because every journey starts with a dream and a sense of adventure.
As I grew up, I learned to appreciate the beauty of the Philippines. I realized that exploring my country first is just as important as going abroad. There’s something special about discovering the wonders of where you come from before visiting other places. I also believe that experiencing local treasures while exploring the world makes for an even greater adventure.
That said, while my ultimate goal is to explore the world, I’m starting with the places that have captured my heart and imagination. Here’s a sneak peek at my current travel bucket list featuring both local gems and international dream destinations!

Next on my list is Communal Ranch in Bukidnon. It’s a beautiful place that feels like New Zealand in Mindanao. As a city girl, I love wide, open spaces and green landscapes where things I rarely see every day. I am excited about being surrounded by rolling hills, fresh air, and endless greenery.
I especially look forward to horseback riding in this scenic setting. I can imagine feeling the wind on my face and enjoying the peaceful countryside. This place makes you want to slow down and appreciate nature. Bukidnon's cool climate and stunning views make it a perfect spot for someone like me who wants both adventure and relaxation. I know this trip will be memorable, whether I’m enjoying the scenery, meeting friendly locals, or breathing in the fresh mountain air.

One place I want to visit is the Hinatuan Enchanted River in Surigao del Sur. I became interested in it during a college assignment in my second year. I was looking for unique destinations to present, and I found this beautiful river.
The water is a deep, clear blue, which makes it seem magical. Locals say spirits protect the river, and some depths remain unexplored. Many people swim in it, but I don’t plan to dive in. I just want to see its beauty up close. I imagine standing by the riverbank, captivated by its vibrant colors and how the sunlight sparkles on the water. This place feels truly enchanting, and I look forward to experiencing its magic in person.

These terraces are famous and important, often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” The Ifugao people carved them into the mountains over 2,000 years ago, showing their skill and connection to nature.
What fascinates me most about the Banaue Rice Terraces is their beauty and cultural importance. It’s amazing to think that they were built by hand without modern tools and have lasted for so long. They remind us of the hard work and skill of our ancestors. I want to visit and enjoy the view, imagining the generations of farmers who have worked on these lands. Seeing the terraces in person, surrounded by misty mountains and lush greenery, would be an unforgettable experience that connects me to both nature and the rich history of the Philippines.

Coron, Palawan is on my travel list because I think it is a must-see for everyone, whether local or foreign. Palawan is famous for its stunning islands, and Coron stands out to me. Its tall limestone cliffs, clear lagoons, and colorful marine life make it one of the most beautiful places in the Philippines.
I haven't visited yet because I can't swim right now. I want to learn how to swim first so I can enjoy everything Coron offers, like snorkeling in Kayangan Lake, diving to see World War II shipwrecks, and swimming in its beautiful lagoons. I picture myself exploring the water and marveling at nature’s beauty. I also look forward to enjoying Coron’s relaxing island atmosphere waking up to beautiful sunrises, eating fresh seafood, and soaking in the tropical paradise.
International
1. Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, Iceland

The first international destination on my list is Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in Iceland. A place that perfectly captures my dream of experiencing the magic of the Aurora Borealis in a breathtaking, icy landscape. Iceland has always been my top country to visit, and witnessing the Northern Lights in the cold, surrounded by floating icebergs and glacial waters, would be an absolute dream come true.
Jökulsárlón is known for its surreal beauty with massive chunks of ice breaking off from the glacier, drifting peacefully in the lagoon, and creating an otherworldly scene. I imagine myself standing by the shore, bundled up in layers, watching the vibrant green and purple lights dance across the sky, reflecting on the icy waters. The thought of being in such a serene and almost magical place excites me beyond words.
Aside from chasing the Northern Lights, I’d love to explore more of Iceland’s unique landscapes such its black sand beaches, stunning waterfalls, and geothermal hot springs. But Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon remains at the top of my must-visit list, as I know that experiencing the aurora borealis in such a setting would be one of the most unforgettable moments of my life.
2. Ghibli Museum, Japan

As a Studio Ghibli fan, I love the magical worlds and heartwarming stories of Ghibli movies, and they always make me feel nostalgic and relaxed. Going to this museum feels like stepping into those films, so I really want to go.
The Ghibli Museum is not an ordinary museum. It makes you feel like you're in a Studio Ghibli movie. The building's fun design, secret passageways, and beautiful displays create the same charm as the films. I can imagine exploring the rooms, looking at detailed sketches and animation displays, and seeing the life-sized Catbus and Totoro figures!
I have many places I want to see in Japan, from busy Tokyo to the beautiful countryside of Kyoto, but this museum is very special to me. It’s more than just a tourist spot; it’s a chance to dive into the world that has inspired me for years. I know that once I walk inside, I’ll feel the same warmth and wonder that Ghibli movies bring, making it a memorable part of my trip to Japan.
3. Easter Island, Chile

Easter Island is an exciting place on my travel bucket list. I’ve been more interested in it ever since I studied Global Geography in college. I’ve seen pictures of the famous moai statues, but learning about the island’s history and legends makes me want to visit even more.
Easter Island, or Rapa Nui, is more than just its big stone figures. It has a rich history. It’s amazing to think that an ancient civilization carved and moved these giant statues using only basic tools. How did they do it? Why did they create them? The different ideas about their purpose, whether as spiritual symbols or signs of power, inspire me to see them up close and feel the island’s atmosphere. I can picture myself standing on the island, surrounded by these towering statues, feeling wonder and curiosity about their secrets.
4. Chiang Mai, Thailand

My main reason for wanting to visit Thailand is to experience the magical Yi Peng Lantern Festival. Ever since I watched Disney’s Tangled, I’ve been captivated by the idea of thousands of glowing lanterns floating into the night sky which is a dreamlike scene that feels straight out of a fairytale. When I learned that this exists in real life in Thailand, I knew right away that I had to see it for myself.
Yi Peng, which usually takes place in November, is not just about releasing lanterns; it’s a deeply cultural and spiritual event. Locals and tourists alike release khom loi (floating lanterns) into the sky as a symbol of letting go of negativity and making wishes for the future. I can already picture myself standing among the crowd, holding my lantern, making a wish, and watching it join thousands of others in the illuminated sky.
Beyond the festival, Chiang Mai itself is a destination full of charm and history. I’d love to explore its ancient temples, walk through its vibrant night markets, and visit elephant sanctuaries, where I can interact with these gentle giants ethically. The city’s laid-back vibe, surrounded by lush mountains and rich culture, makes it an even more appealing place to visit.
5. Hallstatt, Austria

I’ve seen countless breathtaking photos of this charming lakeside village on the internet, but it wasn’t until I watched Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area (Episode 12) that I truly became mesmerized. The stunning backdrop of Hallstatt in the series made me feel as if I was watching a real-life fairytale unfold.
Nestled between the serene Hallstätter See (Lake Hallstatt) and the majestic Dachstein mountains, this picturesque village looks like something straight out of a postcard. Its quaint pastel-colored houses, cobblestone streets, and snow-capped peaks in the distance give it an almost dreamlike atmosphere. I imagine strolling along the lake, taking in the crisp alpine air, and simply soaking up the peaceful surroundings.
Hallstatt is not only beautiful but also rich in history, home to one of the oldest salt mines. I’d love to tour the mine, enjoy a boat ride across the lake, visit the Skywalk for panoramic views, and savor local Austrian cuisine by the lakeside. This enchanting village, with its tranquility and breathtaking scenery, truly feels like a hidden European gem.
Though I still have more to add, this bucket list represents the places that have captured my heart, and each destination will bring new stories and unforgettable experiences. Here’s to making dreams a reality! I hope the world waits for me.
